NCPR 40th anniversary 40k/20k run/walk

Join us on Saturday, May 10, 2008 as North Country Public Radio celebrates its 40th anniversary with a 40k/20k Run/Walk at the Paul Smiths VIC. A 20k race will also be held for runners and walkers.

A festival atmosphere will greet runners, walkers and their families at the 40th Anniversary 40k/20k Run/Walk. Food, live music and indoor and outdoor activities will be available through the day. See the press release on this event.

the course

This race is considered a trail run/walk. It will be held on the Paul Smiths VIC's groomed and scenic trail system. In all, there are six loops (40k), starting at the building and proceeding clockwise (three loops for the 20k). Check out the course.

registration

NCPR is handling the registration for this race. Download a registration form (pdf) or register by contacting Kelly Trombley at North Country Public Radio, (877) 388-6277.

Runners/walkers may also register at the VIC on the day of the event. Cost: $40 before May 3; $50 after May 3.

40k/20k run/walk Schedule

7-9 a.m.: Early optional start for Walkers (20k/40k). Must start by 9 a.m. to be timed.

9 a.m.: Runners start (20k/40k)

9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Wildlife Crafts for Kids (Classroom)

10 a.m.: Fun Run for Kids

11 a.m.: Blackfly Blood-Sucking Contest: NCPR staff vs. VIC staff; open to the public - teams of two (Butterfly House field)

11 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Lunch (Pavilion)

Noon: Live Adirondack Bird-of-Prey Program w/Mike Brennan (Theater)

1 p.m.: Animal Sounds Nature Trivia Game (Theater)

2 p.m.: Support ends on course

2 p.m.: Awards Ceremony (Theater)

5 p.m.: VIC building closes
