adirondack raptor celebration
We look forward to seeing you at the 8th Annual Adirondack Raptor Celebration, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at the Adirondack Park Agency Visitor Interpretive Center in Newcomb. raptors in residence - vic birds of preyVIC staff will be showing all five of the Center’s non-releasable, education birds: These previously injured raptors were rescued and received care from wildlife rehabilitators, and none are able to survive in the wild. They work alongside naturalists for regular bird-on-hand programs at the Newcomb VIC throughout the year. visiting raptors & hawk workshopBeth Bidwell, director of the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York in Fort Ann, will be presenting more non-releasable raptors and programs. Her husband, Brad Bidwell, will give a Hawk Identification Workshop. Held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. exhibitsWildlife Photographer George Seymour, of Mountain Images, and wildlife photographer Thomas L. Delasin will have photographs of raptors on display and for sale. This year’s exhibitors include: the New York State Wildlife Rehabilitation Council and the High Peaks Audubon Society.
