WILDLIFE WATCH

Wildlife Watch - moose

With 2,885 acres at the Paul Smiths VIC and 236 acres at the Newcomb VIC, the centers offer a wide variety of habitats for Adirondack wildlife. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation recognizes both centers as official Wildlife Viewing Destinations for residents and visitors to the Adirondack Park. Stop by the front desk, pick up a trail map and ask us where to view wildlife.

Wildlife Education programs

Both VICs offer public programs year round to help visitors learn about Adirondack wildlife. While introductions to these programs may start indoors, participants will then head outdoors for interpretive trail walks with staff naturalists in the hope of spotting wildlife on the VIC trails.

Check out the VIC Program Schedule to see what programs are happening next!

Wildlife festivals

Special events are held annually at Paul Smiths and Newcomb to celebrate Adirondack wildlife. Visitors will see live animals, learn about the latest wildlife issues and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
